Some days ago in Kuterevo we had a training about leadership and workcamps. This is a part of our current work of preparing the next months: we have to prepare all the infrastructure for groups but we need to prepare ourselves as well, for the busy and crazy summer.
Because of that, VUK organized a training course in Kuterevo, with the support of VCZ (Volunteer Center Zagreb). The participants were the summer team 2015 (our EVS volunteers Zuzana, Mathilde and Aniol, our Service Civique volunteers Gaëtan, Chloé, and our local Annamaria :)) and also four other girls from Croatia (Andrea, Andreja, Lea and Jelena) who will be coordinating workcamps this summer.
The trainer was Đurđica, a very good friend of the refuge and a volunteer for years; she came with her family. During the training Amélie was also there, helping with logistics. The training sessions took place in DVD, Vatrogasni Dom, next to Minimarket; and we were eating and sleeping in American House, just next to Postaja.
The training was very interesting; all the sessions were useful, interactive and enriching. We share experiences and we learn a lot about volunteering, workcamps and sustainability, SCI, group dynamics, leadership, conflict and other things.
Two very good moments were the excursion to river Gacka; and the ending party around the campfire, in pentagon, singing and playing the guitar.
In summary, the training was a great time and now we are ready and looking forward to start to coordinate the summer groups!
We also use this article to thank the organisers of the training (Amélie and Ivan), Đurđica as the trainer, all the participants and collaborators, and the local community to lend us DVD, and Teta Ruža to cook for us amazing vegetarian food every day 🙂
