Each year, Kuterevo Bear refuge hosts more than 300 volunteers, from all around the world. Most of the volunteers come in summer, with scout groups, Bouworde groups or through SCI workcamps. So far we have prepared 3 workcamps for this year.  The first workcamp will start at 25th of May, when we will be building up new enlcosures! Willing to help? Apply!

HR-VAK 10.1 LAND FOR THE BEAR

• number of volunteers: 12

Current capacities of the bear refuge are full. Without more land for the bears, the refuge won’t be able to accept new orphan cubs if an unlucky event happens. Bear cubs become orphan due to human mistake (hunting, poaching, taking from mother) or natural causes. Those used to humans have to be removed by killing or moving to the refuge. Being in the refuge, bears represent their species, animate and inspire visitors and volunteers to live and act nature friendly.

During this workcamp we will be digging, building, moving rocks and materials, setting up the enclosures. We will be also learning and sharing about bears, nature, permaculture, sustainable living, local culture, climate justice and similar topics.

HR-VAK 10.2 UNDERSTANDING BEARS

• number of volunteers: 14

Every year, the refuge is visited by thousands of pupils, tourists, travels and volunteers. Besides guiding and telling them stories about orphan bears and wild population, this year we are planning to create an educational path which will get people closer to the bears and their lives. Besides that, we will continue working on the new enclosures for bears.

Work will be partly creative, partly physical: construction of bear den, imitation of habitat, illustrations of life cycle and bear’s diet, making paths, signs, etc. We will be also learning and sharing about bears, nature, permaculture, sustainable living, climate justice

HR-VAK 10.3 BEAR ART II

Every year, the refuge is visited by thousands of pupils, tourists, travels and volunteers. Besides guiding and telling them stories about orphan bears and wild population, we offer variety of hand-made souvenirs and educational opportunities.

At this workcamp we will be making and decorating souvenirs, creating space for exhibitions, painting murals and in general improving the visual impression and educational aspects of the refuge, for kids and adults. Enjoying nature and bears’ presence 🙂 As usual, we will learning and sharing about bears, nature, permaculture, sustainable living, climate justice and similar topics.
